Founded in 1898, the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) was the first institution in the world dedicated to research and teaching in tropical medicine. Its mission is to positively impact the health and wellbeing of the most disadvantaged populations across the globe, working in partnership to build capacity and deliver resilient health systems. LSTM focuses on pioneering life-saving research and championing education for all. It has been ranked in the UK's top five for postgraduate student experience for the third consecutive year. Recent activities include the first participant randomized in an international Crimean-Congo haemorrhagic fever trial, and a peer-led psychological and social support programme that helps reduce tuberculosis stigma and depression in Indonesia. The university's newsletter brings its high-impact research and culture to inboxes worldwide.
